Deborah Barnes

Deborah Barnes is an educator, a wife, mother, and grandmother, and President of the Milwaukie City Council.  This former broadcast news reporter who gave up a successful career in broadcasting in Oregon now teaches high school students the art of broadcasting and digital media in the North Clackamas School District.  Deborah has three daughters and three grandchildren.  She is married to Scott Webb who runs his own company, Webb Impressions.

Deborah's career has included leadership positions ranging from President of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists union, President of the Oregon Associated Press Association, and she was Vice-Chair of the Oregon Legislature's Workforce Taskforce 2005.  She worked with former Representative Jane Lokan to author a school safety bill signed into law by Governor John Kitzhaber.

Deborah obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communications from Pacific Lutheran University and her Masters degree from Portland State University in Educational Administration.  She is a member of the OEA Public Affairs Cabinet, on the executive board of the NCEA, a delegate to the OEA and NEA representative assemblies, and continues to find time to garden, read, and work with her community on the Milwaukie City Council.
